Building & Tiling Tools
Everything for bricklaying, plastering and tiling jobs. The range includes Marshalltown tools such as tile floats and brick jointers, Globemaster plasterers trowels, margin trowels, a cotton brick line, a 10lb sledge hammer, a hickory claw hammer shaft, small tool leaf pointing tools and Vitrex professional tiling sponges, from SupaTool, RST, Marshalltown, Vitrex, Surfacemaster and Bulldog.
For tiling, a margin trowel and notched trowel handle small areas and spreading adhesive, and a float or sponge cleans grout from tile surfaces. For plastering, a plasterers trowel in a length like 280mm helps to smooth finishes, while smaller pointing tools such as a small tool leaf in 1/2 inch size work mortar into joints. A brick line helps keep courses level, and a sledge hammer is used for breaking and driving.
Look for a comfortable handle and a rust resistant blade, and match the blade length to the size of the surface you are working. Clean tools thoroughly after each use, because dried mortar or adhesive is hard to remove. Wear gloves and safety glasses, especially when hammering or cutting tile. Replacement hammer shafts are cheaper than a whole new tool if the handle breaks.

Choose tools by the material and the size of the job.

| Trowels | Bricklaying, pointing and plastering | Shape and size differ for each job |
| Notched spreaders | Spreading tile adhesive evenly | Bigger tiles need larger notches |
| Manual tile cutter | Straight cuts in ceramic and porcelain | Check the maximum cutting length |
| Tile nippers and files | Small shaped cuts and edges | Good for cutting around pipes |
| Floats | Grouting, rendering and finishing | Rubber floats are used for grout |
| Buckets and mixing paddles | Mixing adhesive, mortar and plaster | Clean straight after use |

What is a brick line for?
It is a string stretched between two points to keep each row of bricks straight and level.
