This policy explains how DIYSmith collects and uses your personal information when you visit diysmith.co.uk, sign up to our emails or buy from us. DIYSmith is a trading name of RAMOFY LTD, a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 11749260. Registered office: Unit 2, 50 Derby Street, Manchester M8 8HF, United Kingdom. RAMOFY LTD is the data controller for your personal information.

What we collect

  • Contact and delivery details: your name, email address, phone number and billing and delivery addresses.
  • Order details: what you buy, return or save to your list, and your order history.
  • Payment details: payments are processed by our payment providers (such as Shopify Payments and PayPal). We do not see or store your full card number.
  • Messages: anything you send us by email, contact form or WhatsApp.
  • Device and usage information: your IP address, browser, the pages you visit and how you found us, collected using cookies and similar technologies.

How we use it, and our lawful basis

  • To take, deliver and support your orders, including returns and refunds (performance of our contract with you).
  • To send you marketing emails, such as offers and project guides, only if you sign up (your consent). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
  • To prevent fraud and keep the shop secure (our legitimate interests and legal obligations).
  • To understand how the website is used and improve it, using analytics cookies only if you accept them in our cookie banner (your consent).
  • To keep accounting and tax records (legal obligation).

Who we share it with

We share only what each provider needs to do its job: Shopify, which hosts our shop; payment providers; delivery companies such as Royal Mail, Evri and DPD; our product supplier when an order is sent to you directly; and email and analytics providers. We do not sell your personal information. Some of these providers process data outside the UK. When they do, they use UK-approved safeguards, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses.

Shopify also processes personal information as described in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy.

Cookies

We use essential cookies to run the shop and your basket. With your permission, we also use analytics and marketing cookies. You can accept or decline these in the cookie banner. Your saved list and cookie choice are stored in your own browser.

How long we keep it

We keep order and accounting records for 6 years, as UK law requires. We keep your marketing preferences until you unsubscribe. Other information is kept only for as long as we need it for the purposes above.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to access your personal information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, take a copy to another provider, and withdraw your consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email support@diysmith.co.uk. We will reply within one month.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we use your information, please contact us first. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

Our shop is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
