Tile Adhesive & Grout
Everything you need to fix and finish ceramic and porcelain tiles. This range covers tile adhesive and tile grout in ready-mixed and powder form, with brands including Weber, Evo-Stik, NX, Sika, Polycell and Bostik.
For adhesive, match the product to where you are tiling. Wall tile adhesive is fine for walls, but floor tiles generally need a stronger or flexible tile adhesive, particularly over underfloor heating or timber floors. Waterproof and mould resistant adhesive suits bathrooms and showers. Check the pack for the recommended tile size, and spread with a notched trowel to the depth stated.
Grout comes in white grout, grey grout and other colours, so choose one that complements the tiles. Grey grout hides dirt on busy floors, while white tile grout gives a crisp, clean look on wall tiles. Joint width decides the type of grout needed, so check the pack before buying. A grout reviver pen can freshen tired joints, and a spreader or sponge helps with finishing. Seal or clean grout regularly in wet areas.

How to choose tile adhesive and grout
Match the products to the tile, the wall or floor, and how wet it gets.
| Option | Best for | Things to know |
|---|---|---|
| Ready-mixed wall adhesive | Small ceramic wall tiles in dry areas | Easy to use but limited tile size and weight |
| Powder cement-based adhesive | Floors, showers and large tiles | Choose flexible types for wooden floors and heating |
| Rapid set adhesive | Jobs that need grouting the same day | Shorter working time once mixed |
| Standard cement grout | Most wall and floor tiles | Check the joint width it suits |
| Flexible or wide joint grout | Floors, underfloor heating and wider gaps | Copes with slight movement |
| Epoxy grout | Worktops, showers and stain-prone areas | Harder to apply; follow the instructions closely |
Tile Adhesive & Grout: frequently asked questions
What tile adhesive should I use for floor tiles?
Use an adhesive labelled for floors. Flexible tile adhesive is usually recommended for timber, underfloor heating or large format tiles.
Can I use wall tile adhesive on floors?
Not usually. Wall adhesives are formulated for lighter loads, so check the pack states it is suitable for floors before using it.
How long should I wait before grouting?
Follow the adhesive pack, which typically says to wait a number of hours until it has set. Grouting too early can move the tiles.
What colour grout should I choose?
White grout gives a bright, clean look, while grey grout is more forgiving on floors. Mid tone grout also hides marks well.
Is there mould resistant grout?
Yes, mould resistant grout is made for wet areas and kitchens. Still wipe down regularly and keep the room ventilated.
