Sticky Back Plastic
Cover shelves, worktops, doors and glass with self-adhesive film. This range of sticky back plastic from d-c-fix includes matt, gloss, wood grain, stone, leather, pearlwood and plain colours, along with window plastic in frosted, static cling and decorative designs.
Sticky back plastic is popular for lining drawers, freshening kitchen units, covering old furniture and protecting craft tables. Rolls come in widths such as 45cm, 67.5cm and 90cm and in lengths from 2m up to 15m, so measure your surface first and add a little extra for trimming. Sticky back plastic for windows includes frosted designs for privacy and static cling film that peels away without leaving residue.
For best results, clean the surface and make sure it is dry and smooth. Cut the film slightly oversize, peel back a few centimetres of backing, then smooth it on with a squeegee or soft cloth from the centre outward to prevent bubbles. Window film suits clean glass, and some types hold by static rather than adhesive. Test on a small corner first to check it works on your surface, particularly on paint.

Sticky Back Plastic: frequently asked questions
What can I use sticky back plastic on?
It sticks to clean, smooth surfaces such as wood, melamine, tiles and glass. Rough or dusty surfaces will not hold well.
How do I apply sticky back plastic without bubbles?
Peel the backing gradually, smooth from the centre outward and use a squeegee. Lift and re-lay if a bubble forms.
Is window plastic removable?
Static cling window film removes cleanly, while adhesive types may leave a residue. Check the product details.
How much sticky back plastic do I need?
Measure the width and length of the surface and add a few centimetres for trimming. Roll widths vary from 45cm to 90cm.
Can I use it in the kitchen?
It can cover units and worktop edges, but keep it away from direct heat sources such as hobs.
