Pipe & Fittings
A broad plumbing range for joining, extending and repairing water pipework. It includes pipe fittings and pipe connectors in 15mm and 22mm, Speedfit fittings and Speedfit pipe, compression pipe fittings, end feed and pre-soldered elbows, copper pipe coil, stop ends and pipe clips, from Securplumb, Oracstar, JG Speedfit, Whitespeed, Monument and Polyplumb.
Choose by pipe type. Push fit systems like JG Speedfit join plastic or copper pipe without tools, which is helpful in tight spots. Compression fittings use a nut and olive and are common on copper, while soldered fittings need a blowtorch and solder, and suit confident DIYers. A 22mm pipe connector or 22mm compression fittings are normally used for larger supply and heating runs, and 1/2 compression fitting sizes are often given in inches.
Check each pack for the size and whether it is for hot or cold water. Use reducers such as 22 x 15mm to step between sizes. Support pipe with clips and allow for expansion on hot lines. Drain the system before cutting into it, and test for leaks once the water is back on. Call a qualified plumber for any work that involves gas or unvented systems.

How to choose pipe and fittings
Match the pipe size and pick a joint method you are comfortable with.
| Option | Best for | Things to know |
|---|---|---|
| Copper pipe | Exposed runs and heating systems | 15mm and 22mm are the common sizes |
| Plastic barrier pipe | Flexible runs under floors | Use pipe inserts with most fittings |
| Push-fit fittings | Quick DIY joins with no tools | Cut square, deburr and push fully home |
| Compression fittings | Reliable joins that can be taken apart | Do not overtighten the nut and olive |
| Pipe clips | Supporting pipe runs | Space clips closer on plastic pipe |
Pipe & Fittings: frequently asked questions
What is a Speedfit fitting?
It is a push fit connector that grips the pipe with an internal collar and seals with an O ring. Pipe is pushed in and no solder or spanner is needed.
What is the difference between 15mm and 22mm pipe?
They refer to outside diameter. 15mm is typical for taps and radiators feeds, while 22mm is used for main runs.
Can I mix compression and push fit fittings?
Yes, if the pipe ends are suitable, but each joint must be fitted to its own instructions. Use the right insert for plastic pipe.
Do I need to solder pipe fittings?
Not with compression or push fit types. End feed and solder ring fittings need heat and flux.
What is a reducer fitting?
A reducer connects two pipes of different sizes, such as 22mm to 15mm. Check both sizes on the pack.
