How do I measure for uPVC door handles?
Measure the distance between the two fixing screw holes on the existing handle, centre to centre. Check the door thickness too, as longer spindles are needed for thicker doors.
What is the difference between a door handle and a door lever?
A lever is a horizontal handle pressed down to open, while a knob is turned. Both are called door furniture and many are sold on a rose or backplate.
Do screw on door handles need a latch?
Screw on handles are for doors that already have a latch or lock fitted. They cover the fixings but do not replace the lock mechanism.
What does a door closer do?
A door closer pulls the door shut after you open it, at an adjustable speed. Choose one rated for the weight and width of the door.
Can I fit black door handles over old brass?
