Plant Feed
Keep borders, pots and lawns healthy with feeds from Vitax, Miracle-Gro, Doff, Levington, Johnsons Lawn Seed and Empathy. The range includes liquid and soluble plant food, organic fertiliser for vegetables, rose feed, sulphur granules for ericaceous plants and lawn treatments.
Pick a plant feed based on the job. A general plant food suits flowers and house plants, while tomato, potato and veg feeds support crops. Rose feed supports flowering shrubs, and ericaceous plants such as azaleas need an acidic feed or sulphur. For houseplants, Baby Bio plant feed is a small bottle option, and Miracle Gro for plants offers several formats. Organic options such as Vitax organic fertiliser feed the soil as well as the plant.
For turf, lawn feed can green grass in spring and summer, and a lawn seed and feed pack helps repair thin patches. Vitax lawn feed and Miracle Gro lawn feed come in covers listed in square metres, such as 80m2. Measure your lawn before you buy, and apply evenly according to the label. Water in after use unless rain is forecast, and keep pets off the lawn until the feed has soaked in.

Plant Feed: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between plant food and fertiliser?
They mean much the same thing: nutrients for plants. Fertilisers can also be slow release granules or organic soil conditioners.
When should I use lawn feed?
Spring and summer are best, when grass is actively growing. Autumn feeds help roots in colder months.
How often should I feed house plants?
Many house plants are fed every two to four weeks in the growing season and less in winter. Check the label.
What is ericaceous feed?
It is for acid loving plants such as azaleas, camellias and blueberries. It helps keep the soil acidic.
Is organic fertiliser better?
Organic feeds release nutrients slowly and improve soil, while chemical feeds act faster. Choose by plant needs and preference.
