Light Bulbs
Browse light bulbs for every fitting in the house, from the E27 bulb and E14 bulb to B22 bayonet and GU10 spotlights. The range is mostly LED, with brands including Eveready, Energizer, TCP, JCB and Sylvania, so you can swap old lamps for efficient replacements.
Start by checking the cap on the lamp you are replacing. A large screw cap is an E27 LED bulb, the smaller screw is an E14 LED bulb often used for candle and golf ball shapes, and GU10 LED light bulbs have two pins that twist into ceiling spotlights. Next compare lumens for brightness rather than watts, and choose a colour temperature: warm white around 2700K for living rooms, daylight for kitchens and workspaces.
If you use a dimmer, pick dimmable light bulbs and check the dimmer is LED compatible. Filament LED styles suit exposed fittings, while GLS and candle shapes match traditional shades. Packs of two or more are handy when replacing a whole set of LED bulbs at once.

Light Bulbs: frequently asked questions
What is an E27 bulb?
E27 is the large screw cap used in most standard UK lamps and pendants, 27mm wide. B22 is the bayonet cap that pushes in and twists.
What is the difference between E14 and E27 bulbs?
They differ in cap size: E14 is the small screw and E27 is the standard large screw. Check the cap on your existing bulb before buying.
Can I put GU10 LED light bulbs in any spotlight?
GU10 bulbs fit GU10 twist-lock holders, but the fitting, transformer or dimmer must suit LED. Check the holder is mains GU10 and not a low voltage type.
Are LED bulbs dimmable?
Only those marked dimmable are. You also need a dimmer switch rated to work with LED lamps, or they may flicker or buzz.
What does K mean on a light bulb?
It is the colour temperature in Kelvin. Around 2700K gives a warm, cosy white and 4000K to 6500K gives a cooler daylight tone.
How many lumens do I need?
Lumens measure brightness. About 470lm replaces an older 40W bulb, and higher lumen bulbs suit kitchens and task lighting.
