Fifty millimetres in an 8 gauge is a slim but reasonably long screw. It works well where you want reach without a heavy shank, such as fixing a board through to a timber frame. Check the total thickness of the parts first so the point does not come out of the back.

4. Stop as soon as the countersunk head is level with the face.
