Specifications

Where small gate hooks work well

A 50mm hook and eye suits light-duty jobs: a low garden gate, a shed cupboard or a utility room door that needs holding closed. For a cupboard hook and eye, fix the eye to the frame and the hook to the door.

How to fit a gate hook and eye

1. Close the gate or door and mark where the hook will reach the eye.
2. Fix the hook and eye in line with each other.
3. Use screws suited to the surface you are fixing into.
4. Test that the hook drops into the eye without force.
