Fence & Shed Paint
Fresh colour lifts tired garden woodwork, and this range focuses on fence paint and shed paint made for outdoor use. Choose from Cuprinol, Ronseal and Johnstone's, plus Bedec and Osmo, in garden paint colours that range from soft pastels to natural woodland tones.
Cuprinol Garden Shades, Ronseal Garden Paint and Johnstone's Garden Colours are all here, in sizes from 125ml testers through 1L and 2.5L tins up to 5L for larger runs of fencing. Popular fence paint colours include greys, greens and blues, with whites such as Pebble and White Orchid for a lighter feel.
Garden fence paint goes on best to dry, clean timber, so brush off dirt and algae and let any rain-soaked wood dry out first. Try a small tester on a hidden section, because shade changes with the wood underneath. Coverage depends on how rough or absorbent the surface is, so check the tin before buying.

How to choose fence and shed paint
Look at the timber and how you plan to apply it.
| Option | Best for | Things to know |

| Shed and fence preserver | Timber needing rot protection | Combines colour with preservative protection |
| Solid colour paint | Smooth sheds, summerhouses and planters | Opaque finish hides the wood grain |
| One coat products | Refreshing the same colour | Bare or faded timber may still need two |
Fence & Shed Paint: frequently asked questions
What is the best way to apply fence paint?
Apply with a brush or suitable sprayer to clean, dry wood, working along the boards. Two coats usually give the richest colour.
Can I use shed paint colours on a fence?
Many garden paints are made for sheds, fences and other garden woodwork, but check each tin for the surfaces it is intended for.
How do I pick fence paint colours?
Test a small area, since the wood shade shows through. Look at how the colour sits against your plants, house and patio.
How much garden paint do I need?
The tin gives coverage in square metres. Measure the area to be painted, include both sides if needed, and add a little for second coats.
Should I prepare the surface before painting?
Yes. Remove loose paint, dirt and algae, let the timber dry fully and avoid painting in rain or frost.
